Some correspondences in the Rumanian supine and the Bulgarian present passive participle

Summary/Abstract: Rumanian is the only Romance language to have inherited the Latin supine. In Modern Rumanian it is characterized by a low frequency of occurrence compared with the other non-finite forms of the verb but also by a great diversity of syntactic functions. This article aims at defining in syntactic and, to some extent, semantic terms the cases in which the Rumanian supine corresponds to the Bulgarian present passive participle, analyzing the specific features of the construction where these two forms have analogical functions.
