Summary/Abstract: The paper presents a series of steps and procedures in teaching that make a difference between two similar in name, but in essence very different processes in teaching. Doing project and project based learning are often recognized as synonyms even if there is a significant difference between these two terms. In our schools, students are more often engaged in the creation of projects that are directly related to previously covered teaching content. They represent another activity for students and teachers that finalizes the content already covered. Project based learning implies greater independence and activity of students in groups and outside school conditions, and an important characteristic of project based learning in relation to the doing project is its importance and visibility in the wider social community. While the doing project remains an activity whose results are intended for the school audience, project based learning and its results are also presented outside the school framework because its topic often has an importance that goes beyond the curriculum. The activity of students and teachers is varied and the project takes longer. By analyzing the available web sources that deal with the comparison of these two forms of teaching, we come to the conclusion that project based learning has greater benefits for the quality of knowledge, as well as the motivation of students, because in addition to the personal engagement of students, it also involves cooperation with peers and experts of different profiles, the development of independence , creatively reaching solutions, connection with real problems from the environment.
