Summary/Abstract: The aim of the above considerations was to demonstrate how crucial the well-being of the younger generation is as a social asset – a form of capital. Drawingupon the relevant literature and available research, the role of educational environ-ments in shaping the well-being of the younger generation was elucidated. Theconcept of well-being was explicated within the scope of various theoretical frame-works and linked to pedagogical concepts, such as education and environment,which are integral components of a young individual’s functioning. It is within theenvironment that the most crucial life processes of an individual occur, particularlythe establishment of peer and social relationships. This ability cannot fully develop without proper psychosocial functioning – without self-awareness and an under-standing of the role of others in one’s life. Well-being is an indispensable resourcefor building relationships with oneself and other social connections. The founda-tion of this resource lies in the ability to name, differentiate, and express emotionsas a neurobiological basis for the need to establish relationships. In this article,mental well-being has been presented as a crucial asset for the future, a competencethat will enable the construction and strengthening of this social capital.
