Summary/Abstract: The term calque was borrowed from another field, that of graphic arts where it is used with the meaning of imitating a sketch or drawing. Over time, it widened its semantic sphere, being used in several fields, with the meaning of copy, imitation or reproduction. Most of the calque are perfect imitations, especially from the French language, during the period when the Romanian language went through the modernization period. In the contemporary Romanian language, however, there are many imperfect calque, the adopted model not respecting the structure of the phraseological unit in the language from which it was borrowed.
