Summary/Abstract: The aim of the article is to present the prospects for implementing electromobility in Poland and in the world. Socio-economic as well as legal and political conditions were taken into account. The advantages and disadvantages of this type of transport have also been considered based on a survey of electric car users. Important aspects in the development of electromobility are social acceptance, economic conditions and the involvement of state authorities. The article analyzes publicly available studies and statistics that show the countries most willing to engage in the development of electromobility and the underlying reason for this. The introduction of zero- or low-emission vehicles is now one of the more frequently discussed topics on the international stage. Numerous discussions, publications and studies show how much potential there is in using electricity to reduce excessive emissions into the atmosphere. The article is divided into four parts. In the first one, the legal, political, and environmental aspects are described. In the second part, the authors focus on socioeconomic determinants in the development of electric cars. The third section summarizes the advantages and disadvantages of this type of transport. The last part refers to Polish cities and companies investing in electromobility development.
