Summary/Abstract: The Russian-Ukrainian war that has been going on since February 24, 2022 clearly shows how important it is to have effi cient and precise barrel and rocket artillery with logistical support in the armed forces. The ability to attack the enemy at a distance is a guarantee of reducing your losses in people and weapons in defense or attack conditions. An important aspect is the issue of replenishment of used missiles, i.e. production and purchase, which, as this war has shown, causes huge organizational problems. The subject of this study is the importance of barrel and rocket artillery in a modern, full-scale military confl ict. The aim of the work is to present the artillery of both warring parties, its use and supplementing the artillery of Ukraine in terms of quantity and quality. In connection with the subject of the research and the purpose of the research, the main research problem arose, which was expressed in the form of the following question: What is the importance of modern artillery on the battlefi eld and what are its capabilities and importance in tactical and operational activities? The search for scientifi c solutions in relation to a specifi c main research problem required the adoption of specifi c research problems: 1) what artillery potential did the Russian Federation and Ukraine have at the outbreak of the war, 2) how is artillery used on the modern battlefi eld, 3) how is Ukraine’s support for barrel and rocket artillery and ammunition provided by Western countries. The conducted preliminary research, the specifi c research objective and research problems determined the adopted main hypothesis: Modern barrel and rocket artillery and having a stock of bullets for them is a guarantee of great opportunities on the modern battlefi eld, e.g. by attacking the enemy in direct contact with the troops and at the back. The available materials were verifi ed by analyzing and criticizing the available literature on the subject and facts from the latest press releases.
