The Italian energy sector in the face of challenges related to the aggression of the Russian Federation in Ukraine

Summary/Abstract: The article is devoted to the analysis of the Italian energy sector, with particular emphasis on natural gas. It discusses the implications of the aggression of the Russian Federation in Ukraine in the context of the European Union’s energy economy, with emphasis on Italy. Possibilities of replacing import of Russian gas were presented, taking into account the infrastructure already existing in the Italian energy sector. The compliance of Italy’s actions in the field of adapting the energy sector to the current geopolitical situation with the guidelines established by the European Union was assessed.
