Summary/Abstract: Since Pope Francis’ document on the liturgical formation of the People of God, entitled Desiderio desideravi, has caused quite a turbulent controversy in Slovakia, we have decided to analyze its message at least in its basic outlines, in order to show how firmly this apostolic letter is rooted in the tradition of the Catholic Church and how carefully and in depth the Holy Father discusses and explains the core of each liturgical celebration, especially the Holy Mass. Our intention is to compare, point by point, the text of this document with the biblical, patristic and doctrinal tradition of the Church, and to show that even in it, as always, Pope carefully draws the most important and necessary points of Catholic doctrine in order to refer and explain it and thus help the contemporary faithful to renew their faith through liturgical celebration.
