Summary/Abstract: The opinion that blood revenge was definitively eradicated in Montenegro during Danilo’s time ran into very serious difficulties and could not be maintained. Its serious traces, although not in the classic form, are encountered not only in the 19th but also in the 20th century. By 1870, Danilo’s code was in full force, and since then 40 of its “articles” have remained in force.
