The Bulgarians In the Narts Epic

Summary/Abstract: The topic of the presence of the Bulgarians in Narts Epos is unexplored in Bulgarian history literature. But the more recent reading of the epos shows that in various forms the Bulgarian ethnonym participates in different stories. The Bulgarians are hiding in the image of Narts clan Borata, in the image of Eldar Balk and in other reincarnations. Even the son of Borfernoug, the elder of the clan Borata, is named Bolgar. Displaying these interesting connections and plots is the purpose of the study.
