Summary/Abstract: Leca Morariu, a prominent figure in interwar Bukovina, a university professor with diverse educational, cultural, and scientific interests, was appointed director of the National Theatre in Chernivtsi in 1933. This institution, although young and valuable, was facing significant financial difficulties. Newly discovered documents from archive of the “Leca Morariu” Cultural Foundation in Suceava reveal that the financial problems of the National Theatre were exacerbated by the corruption of one of its employees, actor Ioan Economu, who also served as a member of the institution’s Board of Directors.
