Summary/Abstract: The Bukovina Institute at the University of Augsburg hosted its first international scientific conference for young scientists researching Bukovina-related topics from November 21 to 23, 2024. The event was open to the public. Numerous participants and speakers from Germany, Romania, and Ukraine attended the invitation. After the keynote address on Homo Bucovinensis, the subsequent presentations were divided into the following thematic areas: war atrocities committed by Austro-Hungarian military actors against the civilian population during World War I, causes of resettlement “to the Reich”, periods of upheaval (social democratic and socialist movements in Romania between the wars), questions about Jewish life in Bukovina, assimilation and Zionism, as well as anti-Semitism, German-language literature in Bukovina, and the economic development of the province (logging, rafting and railways). Also, a recurring theme was the Russian aggression against Ukraine and its associated impacts on Ukraine.
