Summary/Abstract: The article examines the theoretical features of German unconventional verse and its influence on the poetic technique of the Romanian expressionist poet Lucian Blaga. It is shown that L. Blaga used all types of German free verse according to Ch. Wagenknecht's classification: “free verse”, “irregular rhythms”, “free rhythms”, “prosaic poetry”. Similar to “free verse” and “irregular rhythms” are the sylbotonic, irregular, different-footed and different-metrical constructions in which the author attempts to break not only the monotony of classical poetry, but also the fundamental principle of homomorphism. Analogous to the verse libre are poems that are structured according to the principle of “free rhythms” and “prosaic poetry”. In such structures, the metrical emphasis is barely noticeable, and the tonality corresponds to immediate, spontaneous speech. In free verse, the poet actively uses special syntactic constructions, repetitions of certain rhythmic groups and the free sentence structure, which are a significant means of expression of verse libre.
