Summary/Abstract: In my study I would like to demonstrate how John Dewey’s pragmatist philosophy is applicable in the 21. century’s network society. In the fi rst place I give a succinct presentation what is the network society in Manuel Castells’ interpretation than I introduce those important features of Dewey’s philosophy that - in my view – are closely connected to the network society’s characteristics. My conclusion is that Dewey’s thoughts about communication, democracy and education are of great actuality also in the 21. century.
