Summary/Abstract: The paper presents the most important issues related to the promotion of the so-called words of the day in the PAS Great Dictionary of Polish (Wielki słownik języka polskiego PAN, WSJP PAN). First, the concept of the words of the day itself and its foreign implementations were discussed, primarily on the example of the Oxford English Dictionary, then the focus was on the adaptation of this idea at WSJP PAN. The adopted principles of selecting “words of the day” were described, and the technical aspects of their designation and setting deadlines for the presentation of individual entries were shown. The main part of the article is a description of the “words of the day” of WSJP PAN from February 14, 2022 to December 31, 2023, according to the criteria of belonging to a part of speech, the qualifiers used to assign these entries, and the thematic classification fields to which they belong. Finally, the limitations of the current version of this functionality in the dictionary and the possibilities of overcoming them were mentioned.
