Summary/Abstract: The colloquium titled "Kafka and World Literature," held in Prague on December 8, 2023, explored the global impact of Franz Kafka's works. Organized by the journal Svět literatury, the Institute for Czech Literature and Comparative Studies at Charles University, and the Institute for Slavic Studies at the University of Vienna, the event examined Kafka's influence across various literary contexts, including Japanese, Russian, Hungarian, and Lithuanian literature, as well as intermedial transformations of his works. The discussions highlighted Kafka's motifs in post-war Japanese literature, the absurdity in his novel "The Trial" and its reflection in Russian literature, Kafka intertexts in contemporary Hungarian literature, and the reception of his work in Lithuania. Additionally, the transformation of Kafka's texts into other media, such as comics and video games, was addressed.
