Summary/Abstract: We present the results of a survey conducted among professional semioticians from around the world, who were asked to answer two questions: (A) what problems should semiotics solve in the near future? and (B) what are the most important publications on semiotics since 2000? The collection of 63 responses received provides a self-description of contemporary semiotics, as well as some material for scholars to learn from one another. In addition, we add responses from the latest versions of a large language simulator (GPT) as a characteristic feature of the current decade.
