Summary/Abstract: This review article examines Peter Sloterdijk’s Stress and Freedom, focusing on the interplay between stress, emotions, and legal frameworks in contemporary liberaldemocratic societies. Sloterdijk argues that stress is an inherent aspect of human existence and culture, serving both as a force for social integration and a source of tension. The author highlights how legal regulations and social mechanisms can either exacerbate or mitigate stress, necessitating a balance between individual freedom and societal pressures. Sloterdijk proposes alternative solutions, such as an ethic of care, mediation, and restorative justice, emphasizing the need to incorporate emotional dimensions into legal contexts to alleviate stress. The analysis also references Albert Camus’ The Stranger, underlining its continued relevance to existential thought
