Summary/Abstract: The aim of the study is a comprehensive analysis of the under-barrow inlet burial No. 5B from the necropolis of the Rostov settlement (the territory of Rostov-on-Don, Lower Don). The heraldic set and the burial rite (north-oriented lining) show us that it belongs to the Sukhanovo type of the second half of the 6th — early 7th century CE. But the combination of the heraldic style with the cultural tradition of Sukhanovo and the stuffed horse allows us to suggest the turn of the century. Paleogenetic analysis allowed us to reconstruct the phenotype of the buried, as well as to establish the haplotypes of the Y-chromosome and mitochondrial DNA, which indicate his Asian origin. RFA-analysis allowed us to establish the composition of the heraldic font, some of the elements of which were made of lead and covered with gold foil.
