Summary/Abstract: The report presents data from a pilot study on the sexuality of women with disabilities in Bulgaria. The text examines a reference framework for a better understanding of the problems of women with disabilities, focusing on the motives for: 1) sexuality suppressed by bourgeois Modernity, 2) social engineering through legislative reforms, 3) socializing practices of disciplinary institutions and 4) tensions between the public and intimate spheres, considered as a legitimate object of public policies. The analysis concludes that modernization deficits in Bulgarian society hinder the establishment of public attitudes that would favor the full social integration of people with disabilities and do not allow the topic of the sexuality of women with disabilities to emerge from the zone of taboos.
