Summary/Abstract: After the last report of the European Commission was published, the issue of the visa policy of the Republic of Serbia was high on the priority scale of EU and Serbian officials, as well as the local public. Serbia was requested to harmonize its visa policy and abolish the visa-free regime, especially for citizens of Burundi, Tunisia, Cuba and India. The key reason for such a decision is the statistics of Frontex, which show that the Western Balkan route is still the most active migratory route for illegal movement across EU borders in 2022. An additional argument is the statistical data on the increased number of asylum requests submitted by the citizens of these countries in the member states.
