Identity and temporal Perspective of Adolescents with high Achievements in School

Code Preferences of 1st Year undergraduate Students – Case Study of “Sociology of dispositional Groups” Students

Because of the formal and non-formal changes, which are taking place in Polish higher education, the role and function of the university is also changing. Contemporary Polish students consider higher education as one of the phases of their career. The new generations of students expect rapid and effective education, perceiving academic education as a purchase of services or professional training. The aim of the study was to diagnose if those trends are visible also in the processes of communication between the students and the academic staff. To verify this thesis, the author diagnoses the language expression of students, in the form of essay writing. Expressions were analyzed quantitatively and were correlated with some chosen indicators of the students’ social background. Results indicated that students’ language expression could be divided into three types: mixed, restricted and elaborate expression. Each of those types can be classified as social codes, which have their own features. Gathered data only partially confirmed the hypothesis tested by the author. Because of the low scale of the study, it can only be considered an inspiration for other researchers and future studies on a high-scale level.

Peculiarities of inclusive Education of ASD children in Ukraine

Despite the fact that special education in Ukraine is quite extensive and developed, education itself and social psychological development remain unavailable for children with ASD. The article aim is to show a model of autistic children inclusion in the educational system of Ukraine taking into account the experience of success. The investigated group consists of 20 children with ASD and 20 children with mental retardation from a boarding school aged from 8 to 9 years. The children indices were investigated according to Binet Simon Scale for intelligence level determination, method of neuropsychological research according to Alexander Luria for psychophysical development level determination and Childhood Autism Rating Scale for autism level determination. The analysis of inclusive education implementation in the educational system of Ukraine has been conducted. The results of studies have shown that children with ASD have substantially lower indices of speech development, capacity for imitation as well as concentration of attention than children with mental retardation. Conductance of social intervention based of TEACCH therapy elements for group of children with ASD has shown their progress in indices of social interaction, emotional reaction and communication. The results obtained allow us to build a model of inclusion of children with ASD in the educational system of Ukraine. The main components of the model are considered.

Powołanie w chrześcijańskiej koncepcji wychowania

A vocation is defined as a relatively stable predisposition to perform a role, a task, an act, or a labour. In Christianity a vocation is understood as a call of man by God for the accomplishment of certain tasks. It is situated in the process of socialization, education and self-education. Christian education is based on the ideas and values proclaimed by Jesus of Nazareth where a concern for salvation has moved to the forefront. Personalistic and integral conception of man is assumed – the human individual is recognized as a person who has a physical and spiritual dimension. Man is a person capable of development. In this process the reading and accomplishment of one's vocation plays an important role. God calls each person to a life lived in love. Christian morality is subordinated to the three evangelical virtues: faith, hope and love, and the idea of building the Kingdom of God. Christian education is the knowledge of oneself and one's vocation and conscious work on one's own development and the realization of the mission assigned by God. Every person is called by God to do certain tasks, which means his own personal vocation. We can say that the reading of one's vocation and the awareness of the need to work on their own development are important elements of Christian education.

Integralne wychowanie młodzieży w pedagogii św. Jana Bosko

Today the need for a deeper reflection on the problems of education arises from the need to seek such educational concepts which would be capable of developing and shaping the full personal potential of a young man in a holistic (integral) way. This year's 200th anniversary of the birth of St. John Bosco (1815-1888), a great 19th century educator and developer of the original system of preventive education, becomes an opportunity to introduce his original pedagogical thought. This article leads us to understand Father John Bosco's pedagogical activity which is based on the assumption of integral education of the young. It also shows modern educators that St. John Bosco and his preventive system of education can still inspire us to discover new perspectives in the field of education of the young generation.

Wykształcenie oraz pozycja zawodowa rodziców jako czynniki różnicujące postawy patriotyczne białoruskiej młodzieży

The issue of patriotic views of Belarusian youth is extremely important and requires an overall study. Current selective surveys only prove that the patriotism of Belarusian youth has unformed, not-systematized character and is of no special importance. There have been no studies on the issue of the conditions of shaping the patriotic attitudes of Belarusian youth. Results of surveys show that education and occupational status of parents of the young examined are the least differentiating factors. Undoubtedly, gained relations need further interdisciplinary research. However, the problem observed − why family which is supposed to deliver the patriotic education contents in the natural way, is the least differentiating factor of the patriotic attitudes of young people − seems to be very interesting from the pedagogical perspective.

Stavovi učenika o ocjenjivanju

There has been much controversy over assessment in schools since pupils are often dissatisfied with the grades they get but also with the way a teacher evaluates and assesses their knowledge. Teachers often find themselves in a dilemma when it comes to assessment: they are not sure which aspects and components of pupil’s activities should be evaluated, the amount of knowledge for a certain grade, the ways to make grades more objective, etc. Likewise, pupils are often confused: some teachers require little effort for a high grade and others require the opposite; some pupils prefer oral examination and others prefer written. Taking all this into consideration, we were interested in the opinion of those who are affected most in this process – pupils. The results of the research showed that the initial hypothesis was mainly correct: the pupils are aware of the limitations of the numerical grading, but there is a large percentage of them who support this kind of assessment.

With the technological progress, machines and computers have greatly replaced man in performing routine works. So employees are not needed in such large numbers as they used to; now there is more need for entrepreneurs and creative individuals who will create changes. As a result, the role of education also changes. Now the main aim is to produce creative individuals, and this is only possible if school encourages creativity. In this article we speak about creativity in teaching mathematics, which is often considered boring and uninteresting, but it is, as this paper will show, everything only not that. At the beginning a theoretical aspect of creativity is given, what is meant when it is said that somebody is creative, how to achieve creativity in teaching, what makes a creative teacher, how to recognize a creative student and finally how to apply all these pieces of advice in teaching mathematics. After that we speak about the games in teaching mathematics, about the positive effect of games on the development of children, and about the advantages and ways of applying games in teaching. And at the end, there follow practical examples of games in teaching mathematics, which can in a simple way be fitted into the instruction of mathematics.

INKLUZIVNOST OSNOVNE ŠKOLE – STAVOVI NASTAVNIKA I UČENIKA O INKLUZIJI

Inclusion is a process that stresses upon rights and needs of individuals according to their individual capabilities and interests. It is a process against prejudices, aiming to develop tolerance and a positive attitude towards people with special needs. The questioner carried out with a sample of 100 students and 40 teachers in two primary schools in Mostar, analyzing the attitudes of students and teachers about the inclusion of students with special needs and difficulties into a regular educational process. The results of the questioner indicate that attitudes towards inclusion are positive.

ORIJENTIRANJE ISLAMSKE VJERONAUKE KA KOMPETENCIJAMA

This paper examines how Islamic religious education (German: “IRU”) might be taught in a competence-oriented fashion in Germany in the future. A consensus has long existed that all school subjects should be taught in a competence-based method, a concept from which the young and new subject of IRU is not exempt. It is well-known that a set approach towards teaching Islam is only now first starting to be developed. For this reason, this change of perspective must first be based on and substantiated by the relevant subjectspecific area – in this case Islamic Theology. This article does this by first presenting and explaining the interdisciplinary competences and then by elucidating on Islamic religious understanding by examining the twin Islamic concepts of knowledge and action. These two spheres are brought together and the question regarding the extent to which both elements are compatible with each other and can be employed in IRU is discussed. The text concludes by evaluating the issue under consideration and provides suggestions as to how the understanding of competencies might be expanded and adapted to IRU.

Using Corpus in Enhancing Reporting Verb Patterns in Teaching/Learning Process

Knowing which patterns are associated with different reporting verbs is one of the biggest single grammar challenges facing learners. Using electronic language corpus is a good way of teaching all those other reporting verbs apart from ‘say’ and ‘tell’which have a variety of structures (verb + obj + that, verb + ing, etc) e.g. promise, advise,deny, etc. Giving the students a long list of verbs with structures is only confusing and also very boring. With the help of a corpus, students acquire knowledge and skills in the language they are studying. Corpus linguistics can thus be seen as a learning model where students take responsibility for their own learning. The Corpus of Contemporary American English (COCA) currently comprises more than 450 million words of text and is equally divided among spoken, fiction, popular magazines,newspapers, and academic texts. COCA offers a setting of problem-based learning where the students’ discoveries and interaction with a corpus give them a learning curve very much triggered by their own activity and motivation. Further, by being exposed to authentic data, students are given a more nuanced encounter with language than traditional grammars are able and are given the opportunity to evaluate data and draw their own conclusions. From a pedagogical point of view it is quite evident that the integration of corpora in language teaching/learning is beneficial to students.

ПРОЦЕЊИВАЊЕ ПРОФЕСИОНАЛНЕ НЕОДЛУЧНОСТИ ГЛУВИХ И НАГЛУВИХ УЧЕНИКА ОСНОВНИХ И СРЕДЊИХ ШКОЛА

This study examines the connection between career indecision of deaf and hard of hearing students and gender, age, the number of school years completed, the level of hearing impairment, the primary mode of communication and general performance at school at the end of a school term. The sample was comprised of 97 deaf and hard of hearing students attending seventh and eighth grades of primary school as well as all grades of secondary school who are educated in special schools for deaf and hard of hearing on the territory of Serbia. Osipow’s (Osipow, 1980) “Career Decision Scale” was used as the instrument, which was adjusted to cognitive and linguistic abilities of deaf and hard of hearing students for the purpose of this study. The results which the study gave following the data analysis point to the connection between career indecisiveness of deaf and hard of hearing students and the number of school years completed, age and general performance at school, while the correlation between gender, the level of hearing impairment and the primary mode of communication and career indecision of the examinees has not been confirmed.

MEKTEB – MISIJA I PROFESIJA

Introduction of the article offers explanation of the meaning of terms mission and profession in the context of maktab education. With the purpose of presenting clear and better view of the mission of maktab, etymology of the word maktab and the history of maktab were placed in a special focus. The main part of the article presents the mission of maktab within the broader framework of the mission of Islam. Keeping in mind Messenger’s (s.w.s.) preparation for his mission (spiritual, mental and social), the article points to the connection that exists between mission and profession, it also stresses the need for a professional approach towards the mission of maktab. The irreplaceable role of maktab class is especially emphasised in context of contemporary society were tremendous changes are taking place within the families, in midst of social and virtual technology challenges that are making education and upbringing of youth a very complex task. The final part of the article elaborates upon : formal preconditions for the success of maktab class, the issue of realistic conception of teaching plans and programs, prospects of application of a school system on maktab class, the need for synchronisation between mactab class and religious studies class with the aim of achieving better results, the need for standardisation of the work of muallims (teachers), professional development and stimulations for muallims as well as the need for more effective influence of maktab class upon life and behaviour of young people.

MUALLIM, POLAZNIK MEKTEBA I RODITELJ

The role that a muallim has in maktab and a present moment require of him to be a person of trust, up-bringer, counsellor, organiser, coordinator, and innovator. The role model for such a muallim is Allah’s Messenger s.w.s. as is stated in surah Al-Ahzab ayah 22: Verily in the Messenger of Allah ye have a good example for him who looketh unto Allah and the Last Day of the Hereafter, and remembereth Allah much. Allah’s Messenger was of highest morale character. He was honest and just, truthful and fair, he was cheerful and compassionate. He spoke slowly and clearly, his clothes were clean and neat. He used to pay a visit to the sick and console them. Only those that are themselves well broughtup and educated can be able to bring-up and educate new generations of Muslims. This article attempts to offer some guidelines for muallims referring to some character traits that are required, creativity in maktab class and an active cooperation with students and their parents. The success of maktab class is greatly dependent upon the success of this cooperation.

In the era of globalization, time and space has significantly shrank, distances are no longer so important and does not constitute borders in the transmission of information. Presently, information and media coverage almost immediately travel throughout continents. Thanks to the enormous development of mobile technology, we continuously are online. The geographical borders have ceased to divide and young people become citizens of the world, “global teenagers”, whose identity is shaped by the popular culture and consumption14. Young people areconstantly residing in the online space, sharing with friends their private life and the surrounding reality. Unfortunately, very often, they do not have the awareness about the dangers that go together with permanent residing in the network. This begs the question, how to equip young people with this knowledge? How to teach a prudent and wise use of a broadly understood media? The aim of this article is to just pay attention to the elements necessary in today’s world of media education. Education, which in the global world is not easy, education, which often parents and educators are not fully aware of. In the article, there will be also indicated those areas, in which the loved ones responsible for the upbringing of children can actively tak an action in the field of media education.

Dialog i relacje między dorastającymi dziećmi a rodzicami na podstawie badań przeprowadzonych w V Liceum Ogólnokształcącym w Krakowie

The paper presents empirical research conducted in the senior class at High School No.5 in Kraków, one of the most prestigious high schools in Lesser Poland. The paper shows the opinion of adolescents in relation to their relationship with their parents and focuses on quality and scope of dialogue in modern Polish city families. Dialogue can either be based on partnership and respect for the dignity of the child, or it can be a pseudo-dialogue which lacks honesty, acceptance, patience, involvement and the ability to listen.
