Author describes the blog “Halo Ziemia” lead byKonrad Kruczkowski. It is an excellent example of how in a wise and prudent,and at the same time without unnecessary intrusive, virtual reality can share thetestimony of life, in which God and faith are not just slogans. Blogger despite itsvery short activity was warmly received by readers – won the most important title“Blog Roku 2013”. In addition, one of the jurors awarded him the grand prize inthe category: Politics, journalism, society. Blog Kruczkowskiego also receivedthe title of “Bloga Blogerów”, awarded by last year’s winners of this contest.

Teleewangelia. Nowy paradygmat komunikacji religijnej

In this article, an author has undertaken the research in order to answer the following questions: Is television an adequete and good tool for the transmission of the Gospel? How should be assessed its usefulness in the religion communication? The specific objectives can be presented in the following issues: Is the TV faithfully communicates the meaning and value of the Gospel? In what way TV spreads and interprets the Gospel? Since some of these questions are broad, the authors focused on a specific example, showing how the message of the Gospel is transmitted on television. Therefore for the analysis was selected the program aired on Polish public television (TVP 2) named “The Word on Sunday.” An intermediate goal of this research and subject matter is also to initiate and continue the discussion among the scholars of the science of media and social communication and also of the media theology on the subject of television and its capabilities, or their shortcomings in the transmission of faith.

The pontificate of Paul VI took place during a new civilizational epoch: theaudio‑visual era, with far‑reachingel ectronic media which could affect peopleand whole nations and the reality of media space in need of axiological evaluation. It is during this pontificate that World Communication Day started to be celebrated. In his twelve addresses made for these days, Paul VI uses the term “social communication, both in its social and ecclesial meaning. He showed “social communication” as a complex process of social relations, based not only on transferring content between a broadcaster and a receiver. In his teachings, he presentedthe process in the Christian personalism approach and gave it a specific direction.

In the academic year 2014/2015 the staff and doctoral students of Media LiteracyEducation at the Catholic University of Lublin undertook the project of medialiteracy education for priests of the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Przemyślas part of their permanent priestly formation. Approval for this idea was given byPrzemyśl Archbishop Józef Michalik. The main subjects of the training were therole of social media in the work of new evangelisation, mental transformation ofchildren, teenagers and the whole society in the light of widespread access to newinformation technologies, as well as the protection of children and teenagers fromthe dangers related to the use of the media.

Roman Catholic-Anglican Mixed Marriages in Ecumenical Dialogue and Pastoral Practice

The article entitled “Roman Catholic-Anglican Mixed Marriages in Ecumenical Dialogue and Pastoral Practice” presents the teachings of the Catholic Church with respect to marriage based on the encyclical of Pope Pius XI “Casti connubi” and apostolic exhortation by John Paul II “Familiaris consortio”. Presenting marriage with its fundamental features: unity, indissolubility, sacramentality, as being a natural union between a man and a woman, blessed by God and empowered to take on matrimonial and parental tasks, constitutes a basis for deliberations on mixed marriages between people baptized in various Christian confessions, in this case Roman Catholic and Anglican ones. The issue of the mixed marriage between people of those two confessions has become an element of works by the Anglican-Roman Catholic International Commission, ARCIC, which in 1975 published a document entitled “Theology of Marriage and Its Application to Mixed Marriage”. Its content became a basis for the presentation of the Anglican vision of marriage in the context of the ecumenical dialogue: points of contacts and differences. Because of schism, out of concern for spouses’ religious identity as well as the unity and stability of marriage, it is necessary to introduce the right rules of pastoral care and confession discipline, which constitute the final part of the presented material.

Felea” Orthodox Theology Faculty of the “Aurel Vlaicu” University in Arad concluded the year 2015 with a series of academic, spiritual and social events that emphasize the intense involvement of teachers and students in the process of shaping the theological future of priesthood, as well as social-cultural activities, which increases this institution’s contribution to promoting values of the Church not only locally and nationally, but also beyond the country’s borders. In structuring this material, we have managed to gather all own information published in the written and online media (especially websites such as: Basilica and the website of the Archbishopric of Arad, Lumina and Calea Mântuirii publications), laid out in chronological order, resembling an „institutional logbook”.

Tenure in History of Sacred Art and Liturgy existed on Faculty of Theology at Jagiellonian University since academic year 1945/1946. Tadeusz Kruszynski was in charge of this faculty. The tenure was given by the Ministry of Education against the opinion of the faculty which demanded both reactivation of the Chair of History of Sacred Art and professor's nomination for T. Kruszynski. Tenure in History of Sacred Art and Liturgy existed until 1954 when it was eliminated by the communists. T. Kruszynski, regardless of the faculty request, was not given the title of associate professor or professor.

Pastorácia Rómov a jej vplyv na piesňový repertoár

The spiritual and religious life of the Roma is, for the majority, little known. In the past the Roma ordinarily tended to affiliate to whatever church denomination was dominant in their surroundings. The situation in the religious field has been changing since 1990 and various church societies have begun to conduct missionary activity among the Roma. Missionary activity has an influence also on the song repertoire, where religious song has found a place. Many of these songs are composed by Roma themselves, with a part taken from the repertoire of church hymns or from the repertoire of so-called praises and adapting either the music or the lyrics of the work. They call these songs praises or gospels. They understand them as prayer, a celebration of God. The singing is accompanied by a strong emotional expresion, with gestures of the hands and movements of the body. The songs are sung at common church ceremonies, at home prayers within the family, and at festivals of religious song, but they also penetrate the repertoire of everyday life.

Biblická mýtizácia v autobiografckých dielach Štefana Pilárika

The life of the Slovak Protestant priest and Baroque period author Štefan Pilárik (1615 – 1693) was filled with hardships. Pilárik was forced to convert by the Jesuits – and several times during his life at that –, in 1663, he was captured by the Tatars and Turks, and at the time the Protestant priests were persecuted, he was forced to leave the country. Pilárik described his sufferings in three texts bearing Latin titles: Sors Pilarikiana (1666), a poem written in Slovakized Czech and in German-language proses Currus Jehovae mirabilis (1678) and Turcico-Tartarica crudelitas (1684). These autobiographical stories are rare examples of early modern period autobiographical ego-documents written in the Kingdom of Hungary. As to the form and content, they followed the 17th-century Protestant preaching practice – the rhetorical and homiletic ways of creating the texts of sermon literature. The author was familiar with the inventive, dispositional, and elocutionary devices of the Lutheran homiletics and exegesis as formed by the Protestant theologians Philipp Melanchthon (1497 – 1560) and Andreas Gerhard Hyperius (1511 – 1564) and made them part of the systematising, interpretational, and expressive means he employed in his literary works.

Корабль Церкви: от визуализации богословия к памфлету

The article is devoted to the pictorial scene «Ship of Faith», which appeared in Russia at the cusp between the Middle Ages and the Early Modern Period. The image depicts a ship steered by Christ being attacked by the enemies of the Church – unrighteous rulers and heretics. The article examines the European prototypes of this scene, who date back to the Reformation period, and puts forward a hypothesis about the connection between this story and two works by St Symeon of Thessalonica – «Sacred Rituals and Sacraments of the Church» and «Dialogue in Christ against all Here- sies». Russian translations of these works made a huge influence on Russian theology. A late manuscript of Symeon’s works contains a miniature of this image, while its printed edition features an engraved version of the same miniature. The end of the 20th century was marked by a renewed interest in the scene in question due to the discussions about the development paths of the Church. The image of the church ship and heretics could now be used as a caricature of opponents.

INTERCONFESIONALISM INTERBELIC: TEODOSIE BONTEANU ȘI «CHINURILE NAȘTERII CELEI DE-A DOUA»

Teodosie Bonteanu began his career in the higher monastic clergy as an Orthodox archimandrite and abbot of Cetățuia Monastery in Iași. In 1937 he joined the Greek Catholic Church. He also met Daniil Ciubotaru, former abbot of Neamt Monastery, who in turn became a Greek Catholic in 1940. In the same year, they both tried to bring the Romanian Orthodox priests who had fled from Bessarabia to the Union with Rome. On the other hand, we know that Orthodox circles – especially the clergy and especially the Moldovan clergy – were enthusiastic supporters of the Legionary Movement; the year of Bonteanu’s conversion, 1937, is close to the peak of the Iron Guard’s activity in Romania. It seems that Bonteanu was not a sympathizer of the legionaries and no legionary propaganda is evident in his works.Bonteanu is a little-known figure in current official Greek Catholic discourse. His writings have not been republished since the 1990s, when “The Torments of the Second Birth” was reprinted. Although he was quite active in inter-war confessional publicity, with good pro-Catholic propaganda and all the more so since it came – it seems – from a former Orthodox who had sincerely converted to Catholicism.

Twórczość muzyczna Arvo Pärta w świetle teologii muzyki Josepha Ratzingera/Benedykta XVI

The article attempts to analyze the essential features of Arvo Pärt’s music (aesthetic asceticism, primacy of the word, universal dimension) in terms of compatibility with the criteria of sacredness of music postulated by Joseph Ratzinger/Benedict XVI (reference to the word, integration of the senses and spirit, cosmic character). The author shows that the Estonian music, at least at the level of ideological assumptions, meets these criteria.

The article is an excerpt from Rev. Jakub Sitarz’s master’s thesis devoted to the question of whether it is possible to find Christological motifs in Tolkien’s Legendarium without overinterpretation. The abstract section of the thesis using the method of historical and biographical re¬search shows the possibility of interpreting J.R.R. Tolkien’s works with both Christological and mythological keys. Further on, the author focuses on showing the references in the Legendarium to Germanic mythology, emphasizing that this is only a fragment of a broader mythological interpretation bringing together the mythology of more nations and cultures.

Kísérlet a protestáns lelkészi szerepek konceptualizálására

In my text, I argue that the evolution of ministerial roles is influenced by the development of the church organization, social processes and expectations, and the pastor’s view of his/her vocation. While Protestant ministry and roles are shaped by these factors, the main role dimensions of Protestant ministry that emerged as a result of the Reformation have remained unchanged. Rather, the change can be seen in the shifting emphasis of the roles concerning each other and in their content. Alongside the stable existence of traditional and neo-traditional roles, there is a growing emphasis on so-called contemporary roles in ministry. In the Transylvanian context, this can be seen in the social role of the Protestant denominations that guides the religiousness of the minority Hungarian community, and in the community organizing, national identity strengthening, educational, cultural, and public activities of the ministers serving in the churches of these denomination.

Tudjuk, mert megtanultuk szentírásismeret és homiletika órákon, hogy egy szövegrészletet nem szabad a kontextusból kiragadni, hanem annak a figyelembevételével kell megértenünk és magyaráznunk. Azt is tudjuk, hogy mindennek, minden kimondott szónak előzménye és következménye van; a mi beszélgetéseinknek, igehirdetéseinknek és ennek a mai temetési prédikációnak is. Mózes azért beszélhet Istennel és majd később Istenről a népnek és a fáraónak, mert Isten az égő csipkebokorból megszólította őt. Enélkül Mózesnek nincs mit mondania, amint nekünk sem lenne. Nemcsak megszólította őt, hanem az életellenes fáraói rendelkezés idején személyesen gondoskodott arról, hogy Mózes életben maradjon. Bizonyára azért, mert neki terve volt vele. Mi is (én is) ezért szólalhatunk meg. Már ennyiből is értjük, hogy nem az ember, hanem Isten a fontos; az életet teremtő, az embert életben tartó, megszabadító, szolgálatába állító, könyörülő Isten.

Grija pentru cei morți în cultul și spiritualitatea ortodoxă

Jesus Christ's love makes fundamental a connection between the alive and those fallen asleep, that death cannot unbide. The intense connection of love joins together all the members of Christ's Church, those belonging to the struggling Church to those belonging to the heavenly Church as well as to the inhabitants of hell, who did not lose hope for the heavenly Kingdom. By virtue of this communion, the alive perform some obligations for those fallen asleep: to pray for them and to make deeds of charity, because if we do not love the dead, we do not love the Lord Who loves those that have taken rest, as living members of His Church. The alive have a duty to pray for those fallen asleep, because our prayers are for the good of the departed.

A bővölködés-teológia észak-amerikai kezdetei, jellemzői és utóélete Dél-Koreában, David Yonggi Cho A negyedik dimenzió című könyvének tükrében

This paper discusses prosperity theology from the perspective of religious studies, arguably one of the most important aspects regarding the history and role of the Yoido Full Evangelical Church (hereinafter: YFGC) in the South Korean Protestant Christian religious tapestry. The current study aims to explore the history and characteristics of prosperity theology using the book titled “Blessed: A History of the American Prosperity Gospel” by Kate Bowler, a Canadian researcher with a Protestant theological background. The paper presents the North American context of the formation of prosperity theology from the perspective of spiritual history, history of theology and social history approaches. Furthermore, it maps the ways in which this theological tendency reached the Protestant Christian communities of South Korea. Indeed, the encounter of prosperity theology with the traditional Korean religious and cultural context raises many complex theological and religious issues, like the problem of syncretism and heresy. Finally, the study analyses the book of David Yonggi Cho, the leader of the largest charismatic church in South Korea, entitled “The Spiritual World of the Fourth Dimension”.

A Királyhágómelléki Református Egyházkerület vezetőinek és a Kolozsvári Protestáns Teológiai Intézet református oktatóinak közös értekezlete

A kezdeményezés rendhagyó módon járult hozzá ahhoz, hogy a hivatalos és formális találkozásoktól terhes kötelék fellazulhasson a szabadabb együttlét során. A csend valóban gazdákra talált a berekfürdői Megbékélés Házban, amelynek légkörében tapasztalható volt, hogy a világ bonyolultsága lebomlik, és közel lehetett kerülni a lényeges dolgokhoz.
