The explanation of merged and / or separate writing of words and phrases can only be achieved as a principled research position when the third axis in the coordinate system of language – the human consciousness, is taken into account. The syntactic orthographic principle explicitly introduces the cognitive approach, as the syntax expresses the cognitive need. This is a extremely sufficient justification for taking out of the vocabulary those supposedly complex words, but in fact word combinations, whose spelling is entirely and only syntactically justified – only separate writing.

The article presents a lesson, which main purpose was to present data by tables and diagrams using computer program Excel. A test for defining the personality type of each student was made in advance by the school psychologist. On the basis of the collected data, the students had to make tables with the personality types of the class and also fill in the results during the lesson. The students also had to prepare column diagram using the information from the table deciding the design on their own. The purpose of this exercise was to check the ability of the students to use in practice their knowledge about the type of diagram they had already learned in previous lessons. The second type of diagram that they had to prepare was the pie. They had to use a format that shows the percentage of each sector. The goal of this exercise was to bind their knowledge from 5th grade with a future material they will learn in 6th grade about the pie diagram, and how to draw it. At the end of this exercise the students had to check if the percentage of the sectors coincides with the real number of people with that personality type and to conclude by themselves if the percentage was rounded or not.

Васил Левски като анонимен автор на „Писмо от България“ до вестник „Народност“

The scientific paper analyzes an anonymous report to the Bucharest newspaper “Narodnost” published as “Letter from Bulgaria” in two consecutive issues in March 1869. The author of the report has not revealed his real name but has nevertheless left specific indicative signs that give material reason to believe this person was Vasil Levski himself. The thesis formulated herewith is supported by relevant evidence. The anonymous report is an important historical evidence for the participation of Vasil Levski in the revolutionary detachment action of 1867. At the same time, its overall contents complement the insufficient sources about his first organisational tour in Bulgaria. The first part of the anonymous report is an authentic text written by Vasil Levski, which has remained unnoticed by the specialized historiography.

По въпроса за времето и начина на създаване на Централния български революционен комитет в Българско

Two of the most important and still unresolved issues in the history of the Bulgarian committee movement in the late 60s and early 70s of the XIX century are when the CBRC in Bulgaria (the Lovech`s Central Committee), was established and what`s happened to the private revolutionary committee in Lovech after the establishment of the Central Committee in the same town. The most common opinions are that the CBRC in Bulgaria was established in the second half of 1870, in the spring or the autumn of 1871. According to me, CBRC in Bulgaria was most likely established at the end of September 1871. As for the second question, many historians think that Lovech`s private revolutionary committee has been transformed into a Central committee of the revolutionary organization in Bulgaria. However, some historical sources allow us to think that in the period from the end of September1871 to the so-called General Assembly of BRCC (April 29 – May 4, 1872) in Lovech there was both a Central and a private revolutionary committee.

The purpose of this study is to present unknown and little known facts about the participation of the Sofia representative Hristo Todorov Stoyanov in the Church National Assembly in 1871. He was one of the most active participants in the discussions on the draft statute for the management and structure of the Bulgarian Exarchate. His legal education, extensive knowledge of ecclesiastical and Ottoman legislation, and personal qualities enabled him to express a competent and reasoned opinion in the disputes and discussions that accompanied all meetings. As an advocate of the democratic views regarding the structure of the Bulgarian Church, Hristo Stoyanov supported the principles of electivity and interchangeability of governing bodies, as well as of active participation of the people in the management of the Bulgarian Exarchate. He demonstrated views and a mindset of a parliamentarian that were modern for his time. The experience he had gained contributed to his future success as a member of the Constituent National Assembly in Veliko Tarnovo, as well as of the First and Second Ordinary National Assemblies. Stoyanov was among the “builders” of Modern Bulgaria. He was also a minister (three times), Chief Public Prosecutor, Chairman of the Supreme Court of Cassation of Bulgaria, a publicist and a respected lecturer at the St. Kliment Ohridski University of Sofia.

In this paper are presented the main and little-known street and other urban areas’ name changes in Plovdiv during the XX century. Attention is also paid to the background from the late Ottoman period. The renaming actions implemented by the central or local authorities usually lead to partial or complete loss of historical memory, regardless of the policy, purpose and ideology. Most seriously were affected the names from the time of the Ottoman rule but there were more cases throughout the Bulgarian national history.

The article seeks to draw the attention of government institutions, schools, universities and the tourism business so as to link educational policies in such a way that young people would be motivated in the profession they choose and would have a guaranteed job in tourism. The aim is to innovate educational systems in order to improve the quality of knowledge and skills and increase competencies and competency models. The possibility for validation of knowledge and skills in the work environment has been considered and a constructive differentiated system, star class qualification for a specific position has been proposed. Education is focused on market demand and the possibility of establishing a link between secondary and higher education, credit recognition in certain disciplines, and creating opportunities for upgrading in the profession and certification of knowledge and skills. We are looking for an opportunity for freedom in education, duality and class in business training, which will materialize in adequate financial remuneration for the work invested.

Культурная информация в романе А. С. Пушкина «Евгений Онегин»: стратегии и способы ретрансляции в португальских переводах

The paper focuses on identifying and methodizing key strategies and ways of rendering culture specific information in Portuguese translations of Eugene Onegin by Alexander Pushkin and aims at assessing their adequacy. Culture differences between Russia, Portugal, and Brazil provide grounds for cross-cultural barriers, the negative effect of which could be minimized if translation bridges the gap between the source and target cultural worlds. This research relies on culture specific lexical items known as ‘realia’ to examine how culture code is transferred in Russian-to-Portuguese translation of fiction. The study resulted in a new translation model providing an algorithm for rendering culture specific words. The model uses a complex of criteria that allow assessing equivalence and adequacy of items in the target language to those in the source language. Applying the model in the course of Russian-to-Portuguese translation will advance theoretically motivated decisions and contribute to the methodology of pre-translation fiction text analysis.

Към историята на една дума, въведена от Христо Ботев

The aim of the article is to present the history of a French loanword, introduced in Bulgarian language by the poet-publicist Hristo Botev. The research is within the realm of diachronic empruntology, viewed as a science for tracking interlanguage lexical transfers in their chronological order. The object of research is the lexeme "francophile", in the process of work the method of empruntological diachronic analysis being applied, which includes establishing the first text fixation of the french loan in standard Bulgarian language. The fate of the word in French and in Bulgarian languages is presented. Parallelly with this different derivative forms, which are compared to their Bulgarian counterparts. The results obtained allow for reconstruction of  Bulgarian language fate of the French lexical creation "francophile" in a formal and semantic perspective, allowing for comparison of connotative uses of the French loan word francophile.

В статията се представят в съпоставителен план възможностите за образуване на инхоативни глаголи от предикатите за състояние в българския и руския език. Разглежданите словообразувателни модели са застъпени в много по-висока степен в българския език, но и в двата езика аспектологичните характеристики налагат съществени ограничения по отношение на съчетаемостта на глагола с префикс с начинателно значение. В българския език възможността за образуване на инхоативи от даден предикат може да послужи като надежден диагностичен тест за принадлежността му към дадена онтологична категория в рамките на семантичната типология на предикатите.

Тональные контуры русских да-нет-вопросов в условиях болгарской интерференции

Просодия русского языка является самым сложным аспектом даже для выпускников болгарских университетов, изучающих русский язык. Цель настоящего доклада – проанализировать, какими тональными контурами болгарские учащиеся реализуют русские да-нет-вопросы. Материалом экспериментально-фонетического исследования явился небольшой корпус минидиалогов на русском и болгарском языках. В эксперимента принимало участие шесть носителей болгарского языка. Интонационные контуры и тональные акценты болгарских студентов сопоставлялись с образцами речи носителей языка. Записи обработаны акустически и нотированы вручную с помощью программы PRAAT с использованием ToRI. Результаты исследования позволяют спрогнозировать возможные отклонения от норм просодической системы изучаемого языка.

Деривационното поле на лексемата wind

This paper outlines the most productive ways of word formation in the English language, focusing on the derivational field of the lexeme “wind”. Derivaties are also clustered according to different thematic groups, connotative meanings, American English usage, constituents of compound words and similarity in meaning. Special attention is paid to differences in theories and approaches to word-formation processes, to using the terms and inconsistencies in spelling of some of the derivatives according to different dictionaries and grammars.

Черният монах на Емилиян Станев и неговите готически събратя

Emiliyan Stanev’s unfinished short novel The Black Monk still remains on the margins of his oeuvre, and also of research interest on the part of Bulgarian literary studies. On the other hand, the plot and the eponymous character fit it into a wide network of works by English, German, French, Russian and other authors, in the traditions of Gothic, Romanticism, Realism and their varieties, where the ‘Black Monk’ motif is a locus communis. I call the potential of such loci communes to form sets of works partially connected by separate, often contextually undetermined threads, polyvalent intertextuality. Comparing through it works by different authors, from different genres and nationalities, I come to the conclusion that their interaction can be described, in terms such as de- and reterritorialization (Deleuze and Guattari), as rhizomatic and gothic. This paper does not range over historical-philosophical, ethical, socio-political, etc. aspects of Stanev's work.

Литературно наследство и музеи в съвременна България

The article interprets the scientific category „literary heritage“ in the logic of Bulgarian legislation and current social reality. The connections between literary heritage and museums are outlined. The narrow meaning of the category is represented mainly by the activities of literary museums. Other institutional spaces have been pointed out, which take care of the artifacts of the literary tradition –archives, libraries, community centers, universities, and research organizations. In conclusion, a concept for defragmenting the structures and activities preserving the literary heritage has been formulated. The key factor in this case are the activities of the National Literary Museum.

Fairy Tales of Angel Karaliychev in Russian Translations

The article is devoted to the work of the Bulgarian writer of the XXth century, Angel Karaliychev. In the second half of the XXth century, his most famous fairy tales and stories for children were translated into Russian, including the collection “Bulgarian Folk Talesˮ in two volumes. In the Soviet Union, Karaliychev's fairy tales were included in collections of fairy tales of Slavic peoples and represented Bulgarian folklore in collections of fairy tales of the peoplesof the world published in Russian. Despite the fact that the last book edition of Karaliychev's fairy tales in Russian appeared in the 1980s, his works continue their life in the new century in electronic format, on the Internet. Karaliychev's fairytales, addressed to children 4 – 10 years old, tell about eternal values in a language understandable for children, they also introduce to children and adults the realities of Bulgarian life, the heroes of Bulgarian folk tales, expanding the horizons of the Russian reader.

«[Слово] надгробное... Kипріану...» by Gregory Tsamblak: Linguistic and Stylistic Features of the Work

The article analyzes the linguistic and stylistic features of the work entitled «[Слово] надгробное... Кипріану...» by Gregory Tsamblak, proclaimed by the metropolitan in Kyiv around 1409. The text is characterized by a high level of verbal and artistic skill. The author uses traditional means of depiction, acts as an innovator, applying a whole system of linguistic means: units of the lexical level, artistic tropes (figures of speech): linguistic repetitions, antonyms, epithets, metaphors, comparisons. Through the use of structurally similar words and typical syntactic constructions, the artist achieves the creation of a certain architectonics of the sacred text and its rhythmization. They help to emphasize the closeness of Gregory Tsamblak to his spiritual father Cyprian, to exalt his activities, and to express the depth of the loss of his mentor. The distinctive signs of the ‘word-weaving’ style, revealed in the work, testify not only to its affiliation to the high style of religious writing, but also increased attention to the inner world of man, which corresponds to the ideas of hesychasm of that time.

Мixed English-Bulgarian Inscriptions in Local Public Space

The article focuses on the process of mixing languages (translanguaging) in the public inscriptions of Veliko Turnovo. There are two main principles that presuppose the occurrence of mixed inscriptions and that structure the local landscape – the presentation-of-self principle and the good reasons principle. In this context translanguaged writing reflects the deliberate manipulation of the features of the two languages – English (in its variety as a global language) and Bulgarian (the local code) to produce hybrid language forms that evoke different connotations. The ethnographic analysis is carried out within the theoretical framework of Linguistic Landscaping Studies with a special focus on the indexability of the material world, code preference and feature analysis.

On Bulgarian Dali-Questions and the Relation to the Subjunctive Mood

The subjunctive mood has been widely discussed from the perspective its selection in complements of volitional, directive and emotive-factive predicates (Picallo 1984, Raposo 1985, Ambar 1988, a.o.). Subjunctive questions and other type of subjunctive main clauses, on the other hand, have not been subject to much systematic research. Some works (Ambar 2016, Giannakidou 2016) suggest that, in main clauses, the selection of the subjunctive mood codifies the expression of the speaker’s evaluations. In line with this view, we discuss the syntactic expression of the Bulgarian dali-questions which do not consist in true requests for information but rather display a flavour of wondering encoded in the occurrence of dali and its morphological make up combining the subjunctive particle da and the interrogative particle li. Considering the properties of the Balkan subjunctive particles, we discuss the syntactic expression of Bulgarian dali-questions building on previous analyses of Bulgarian yes-no questions (Dimitrova 2020).
