PROTECTION OF CONSUMER RIGHTS AND THE ROLE OF THE INSPECTION IN EXERCISE OF CONSUMER RIGHTS IN BOSNIA AND HERZEGOVINA

Summary/Abstract: The paper analyzes the protection of consumer rights in Bosnia and Herzegovina through the role and operation of the inspection in terms of consumer rights and protection. Through the existing system of consumer protection in Bosnia and Herzegovina, which, due to the complexity of the socio-economic system, was conceived at the level of the state of BiH and one entity, all consumers are placed in an unequal position in terms of the protection of their rights. Basic problems arise during the application of consumer protection mechanisms provided by law and the vagueness of certain legal provisions. The importance of consumer protection is reflected in the basic rights of consumers, that is to enable them to obtain accurate and unbiased information about the products and services they buy. This is exactly what directs them to make the best decisions based on their interests and prevents them from being put in an unenviable position by manufacturers or retailers. Consumer protection policy, laws and regulations should help in increasing the rights of consumers, ensuring the responsibility of producers and traders. Today, consumer protection appears more and more as a special activity, and through the modern goods market, it is supplemented with new processes and market services. The role of the inspection must be more to ensure action through systematically regulated regulations. Suggestions are given for improving the current situation in the field of consumer protection.
