Summary/Abstract: This is the fourth paper from the Historical Consultancy for Gamesproject run by GRAP with grant funding from CRPK in Poland. It studiesthe practices and typical skill sets of historical consultants working onanalogue games — most notably, board games. One half of the paper is anoverview of state-of-the-art knowledge on historical consulting in non-digital games on the international market, as it can be traced from the(relatively sparse) information in academic papers and in official materialsreleased by game publishers and developers. The second half of our textis a summary of in-depth interviews conducted by us with seven profession-als working as historical consultants and/or with historical consultants onthe production of history-themed games in Poland.
