Summary/Abstract: The present study is a monograph of the “Gazeta Bucovinei”, a periodical published between 1891 and 1897. The purpose of the work is to present the political context in which the “Gazeta Bucovinei” appeared, as well as the role that the newspaper had in the national struggle of the Bukovinian Romanians. Established in 1891 as the newspaper of the “Concordia” political society, in 1892 the gazette became the press organ of the first political party in Bukovina in the modern sense of the term. The pages of the gazette dealt with both political issues, the establishment of the Romanian National Party, election campaigns, debates in the provincial parliament of Bukovina, and social issues such as the organization of the Church Congress of the Romanian Orthodox Church in Bukovina, the establishment of Romanian schools, and the use of the Romanian language in schools and administration.
