The struggle for Ukrainian writers to gain recognition without Moscow’s approval is evident, as is the limited translation of Ukrainian works into Russian. The narrative underscores the importance of language and the challenges faced by Ukrainian literature under Russian control. The author reflects on the decentralization of Ukrainian culture and the resilience of local publishers despite economic and political pressures.
