Summary/Abstract: Transitioning from IT to the publishing industry, the author highlights the dominance of the Ukrainian language in the sector, contrasting it with the overwhelming influence of Russian literature and monopolies. The struggle for Ukrainian writers to gain recognition without Moscow’s approval is evident, as is the limited translation of Ukrainian works into Russian. The narrative underscores the importance of language and the challenges faced by Ukrainian literature under Russian control. The author reflects on the decentralization of Ukrainian culture and the resilience of local publishers despite economic and political pressures. The shift towards Ukrainian as a marker of independence and identity is emphasized, along with the impact of the 2022 events on the Ukrainian book market.
