
Greener and More Diversified: The Future of the EU Common Agricultural Policy
In the next multiannual EU budget, funds allocated to the common agricultural policy (CAP) will be reduced. In exchange, the European Commission (EC) offers the Member States greater flexibility in implementing the policy. This could lead to the CAP becoming better adapted to the variety of recipients’ needs but could also weaken its coherence. Funding cuts could endanger the more ambitious environmental and climate goals that the EC set for the CAP.
